Jennifer Bacquet - Children's Ministry Director
Growing up as a PK (aka pastor’s kid), church service is in my blood. I began teaching kids in my teens and felt the Lord’s call early on in my life to go into the field of education. After earning my Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, I began working in the public school system as a classroom teacher. I was privileged to work for 10 years with Lexington Local School District and earned my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning from The Ohio State University in 2008. While working in Lexington, I met my wonderful husband and we married in 2005. When our first daughter was born, my husband and I decided that I would devote my time and energy into homemaking and mothering. As our daughters came of school age, my husband and I made the choice to home educate our children and I have delighted in our home educating journey for the past 10 years. Throughout the years, I have never lost sight of the importance of using my spiritual teaching gift in Christian Education. It has been my joy to minister to kids from a variety of different abilities and learning styles as a counselor, teacher, VBS leader, and preschool education director.
What do you love best about your ministry?
My favorite part about working with kids of any age is to see their curiosity and excitement in learning and to hear their honest questions and reactions to truth. It is truly a privilege and great responsibility to teach and shepherd these future members of the heavenly kingdom. For Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
What is your favorite food?
I love chocolate, especially chocolate in any variety of Graeter’s Ice Cream!
What is something people don’t know about you?
I’m an anglophile and love classic British literature and television! From Jane Austen to Agatha Christie and C.S. Lewis, from Dr. Who to Masterpiece Theater and Country File, I love it all!
Besides Jesus, who has had the most influence on you?
My 4 amazing daughters have taught me so much about love, grace, patience, and slowing down to see God’s handiwork everywhere. Motherhood is truly a sanctifying and joyous gift!
What is your favorite season?
I absolutely love autumn! Hot and humid weather is my kryptonite, so I delight in the cooler temperatures of the autumn season. I love hiking among the beautiful colors of the fall leaves and enjoying the delicious apple and pumpkin tastes and smells that encapsulate this season.
